Okay, we’re back to Connie and Watson. I’m seeing my style for these characters evolve, and what surprises me is that I’m going faster while also going slightly less cartoony. At least with the girls I am. I’m studying comics artists who are particularly good with varied female characters (and I mean varied, not just the same Barbie-doll body with a mildly altered head, and I won’t name names here). So I’m spending a lot of time looking at Jaime Hernandez, Dan DeCarlo, Jack Cole and others (especially Hernandez, the man knows the female form in its infinite variety as well as any comics artist or illustrator I can think of).
Back Friday with more Connie Carter, Watson and the mysteries of the library.
