If this is your first visit to Hex Libris, look back at older strips to see that the door has always been horribly ordinary before now. I find it funny that Frankenstein’s creature may monopolize his Playstation, girl detectives walk in on his naked dances, Scrooge comes for Christmas Eve and it’s the door that finally gets him on the phone. But as with everything to do with the Library, contacting the landlady isn’t as easy as it should be.
The scene with Kirby flinging papers is inspired by my own life (heck, the “nothing is as easy as it should be” is inspired by my own life, and probably yours too). Recently I’ve been having trouble finding papers I need. Nothing that can’t be replaced, but some that will require some bureaucratic rummaging. Moving house is never easy on the record-keeping system. But honestly, my record-keeping system isn’t easy on the record-keeping system. Ask my accountant.
